FolkTraditionalInnu

Mike Paul is a Pekuakamiulnu singer-songwriter born in Mashteuiatsh (Pointe-Bleue), an Innu community located on the shores of Lac St Jean (Pakuakamit) in the province of Quebec, Canada. The Innu are Indigenous peoples located on the Nitassinan, Ancestral unceded land in Canada.
His folk music sung in Innu and French transports us into a contemporary and authentic Aboriginal universe! Rich in emotions, his music vibrates to the rhythm of the mother earth and the beings who inhabit it. An artist militant for the environment and for the self-determination of the first peoples, his voice blown by the north wind and the echo of his drum makes us rediscover a thousand-year-old culture of a nomadic people of hunter-gatherers. A true nomad of modern times, he have been travelling the roads for 20 years and have presented his culture and compositions. He has appeared on numerous live television programs, including TAM 1 and 3, Makusham (hosted by Florent Vollant), Radio Canada's Sortir, La petite séduction and, more recently, INDIGENOUS DAY LIVE 2018 in Ottawa, live on APTN. He made soundtracks for television programs, including Mishkuenita on APTN. He has performed extensively in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. Two-time finalist as a songwriter for the Objectif scène Award. He is one of the best Aboriginal songwriters in Quebec. Formerly known as Mike O'Cleary.
