“One cannot discover the true self without finding some tangible degree of Authenticity.”
Genuine, pure, courageous, powerful, and intuitive – it takes a lot of audacity to transfer the intimate moments of your life into song. Meet Carolina East – with a Heart as vast as Labrador, the Big Land of her origins, and as steady and deep as South River NL, the community where Carolina would found her voracious love for singing and songwriting in her teen years. Rural Newfoundland has its share of gifted singers, musicians and storytellers. Blame it on isolation; nothing to do but share creativity and hone your talents to break the monotony. Carolina is a product of her community and proudly wears an eclectic tapestry of musical influences culminated from close connections with family and friends – everything from soul, country, and rhythm and blues, to traditional, rock and pop.
“When I sing, I feel like I am going home. It’s where I feel the most like myself.”
Producer Rob Wells has an extensive resume working with renowned artists such as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Adam Lambert, Backstreet Boys, Nelly Furtado, Cyndi Lauper, Olivia Newton-John, and many others. Her debut single “That’s Okay” achieved national and international air play and charted at #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown, a weekly syndicated top-40 program airing on 12 radio stations across Canada including Sirius XM. A music video for her third single “Until You Are Sorry” was featured in Exclaim! magazine via IMA Sessions. Her working relationship with Wells and Shobha, whose professional expertise and accomplishments align perfectly with East’s instincts as a songwriter and performer, has led to the recording and release of her sophomore album “Crossroads”. Their partnership now spans songwriting, production and recording.
